description
The LTC®6802-2 is a complete battery monitoring IC that includes a 12-bit ADC, a precision voltage reference, a high-voltage input multiplexer, and a serial interface. Each LTC6802-2 is capable of measuring the voltage of 12 series batteries at a total input voltage of up to 60V. Voltage measurements on all 12 input channels can be completed in less than 13ms.
Multiple LTC6802-2 devices can be connected in series to monitor the voltage of each cell in a long series of series. Each LTC6802-2 has an individually addressable serial interface, allowing up to 16 LTC6802-2 devices to be connected to a control processor and operated simultaneously.
To minimize power, the LTC6802-2 offers a measurement mode designed to monitor overvoltage and undervoltage conditions for each cell. In addition, the device provides a standby mode to reduce the supply current to 50μA.
Each battery input has an associated MOSFET switch that discharges any overcharged batteries.
The related device LTC6802-1 provides a serial interface that allows for daisy-chaining the serial ports of multiple LTC6802-1 devices without the need for optocouplers or optoisolators.
