The LTM®4608A is a complete 8A switch-mode DC/DC power supply with a total output voltage error of ±1.75%. The package includes a switching controller, power FETs, inductors, and all supporting components. The LTM4608A operates from 2.7V to 5.5V and supports an output voltage range of 0.6V to 5V (set by a single external resistor). This high-efficiency design provides up to 8A of continuous current (peak at 10A). Designs can be completed with only high-capacity input and output capacitors.

The flat package (only 2.82mm in height) enables the use of unused space on the back of the PC board for high-density point-of-load adjustment. The 0.630mm LGA package liner with 1.27mm pitch simplifies PCB layout by providing standard trace arrangement and through-hole layout. The use of a high switching frequency and current-mode architecture enables a very fast transient response to voltage and load changes without sacrificing stability. The device supports frequency synchronization, programmable multiphase and/or spread spectrum operation, output voltage tracking, and power rail sequencing and voltage margin regulation.

Fault protection features include over-voltage protection, over-current protection, and thermal shutdown. The power module is available in a compact, thermally enhanced, 9mm x 15mm x 2.8mm surface-mount LGA package. LTM4608A are lead-free devices and are RoHS compliant.
