The device is optimized for single and two-cell battery packs and has fixed floating voltage options: 4.1V, 4.2V, 8.2V, and 8.4V. LTM8061 provides a constant current/constant voltage charging characteristic with a maximum charge current of up to 2A. A precheck function trickles charges a depleted battery, and if the battery does not respond to the precheck, the dead battery detection circuit will give an indication signal and pause the charging operation. The LTM8061 can be configured to terminate the charge operation when the charge current is reduced to 1/10th of the set maximum current, or an internal timer can be used if a time-based charge termination scheme is desired. Once the charging operation is terminated, the LTM8061 will enter a low-current standby mode. If the battery voltage drops by 2.5% from the floating voltage, or if a new battery is inserted into a charging system, the auto-restart function will start a new charge cycle.
