MAX11504 quad-channel, standard-definition video filter

The MAX11504/MAX11505 integrated filter provides a 5th order filter for four channels of standard definition video, including +6 dB of output buffer, on each channel. These video filters are ideal for anti-aliasing and DAC smoothing applications such as set-top boxes, security systems, digital video recorders (DVRs), DVD players, personal recorders.

The MAX11504/MAX11505 video input has transparent clamps that are compatible with both AC and DC coupled input signals and allow for direct coupling of DAC outputs. The 5th order filter provides a bandwidth of 8.6MHz (typical). MAX11504 provides a flat pass-band response for all channels. MAX11505 provides a 10.8 dB peak passband response to the channel, resulting in a bandwidth of 8.9MHz (typical) and a flat passband response for all other channels.

Each channel contains an output buffer with a gain of +6 dB capable of driving two standard 150Ω (75Ω back termination) video loads to provide a 2V PP video signal. The buffer drives, whether AC or DC coupled loads, ensure that the blanking level is below 1V after the back-end matches the resistor.

MAX11504/MAX11505 operates from a single +5 V supply and can operate over a commercial-grade temperature range of 0°C to +70°C. The devices are available in a small 10-pin μMAX® package.
