MAX11508/MAX11509 integrates a three-channel video filter, high definition (HD), progressive scan (PS), standard definition (SD), bypass (BP) video, including with a +6 dB gain output buffer, making it ideal for digital video disc (DVD) players, set-top box (STB) receivers, high-definition televisions (HDTVs), digital video recorders (DVRs), and similar devices.

The MAX11508/MAX11509 video input features transparent clamps that are compatible with both AC and DC coupled input signals and allow the DAC output to be directly coupled, eliminating the need for bulky coupling capacitors. Filter bandwidth selections HD, PS and SD. BP mode provides 1080p and high-bandwidth RGB signals. Selectable input bias circuit 2 filter channels provide simple bipolar connection such as C, Pb and Pr video signals.

MAX11508 filter provides -3dB bandwidth of 9MHz (SD), 16MHz (PS), 33MHz (HD), 60MHz bandwidth (BP). MAX11509 filter offers -3dB bandwidths of 10MHz (SD), 17MHz (PS), 34MHz (HD) and 60MHz (BP).

Each channel includes a +6 dB gain that provides an output buffer for a 150Ω video load to provide a 2V PP video signal. The buffer drives either AC or DC coupled loads and guaranteed sub-1V rear end matching resistors after blanking levels. The shutdown mode provided reduces the current of the device to 1μA (typical).

MAX11508 provides a flat pass band and a peak of 0.8 dB of MAX11509 function to compensate for DAC attenuation. MAX11508/MAX11509 operates from a commercial (0°C to +85°C) temperature range from a 5V supply and operation. Some are available in a 14-pin TSSOP package.
