MAX6791TPLD2 high-voltage, micropower, single/dual linear regulators with supervisory functions

The MAX6791–MAX6796 ultra-low quiescent current single/dual output linear regulators are ideal for automotive applications. These devices support a wide operating input range of 5V to 72V, allowing them to withstand automotive load dump while consuming only 68μA. The MAX6791–MAX6794 are dual output regulators capable of delivering up to 150mA each. The MAX6795/MAX6796 are capable of delivering 300mA in a single output. Standard output voltage options (5V, 3.3V, 2.5V, and 1.8V) are available and can be adjusted from 1.8V to 11V. The MAX6791–MAX6794 also provide fixed 5V outputs.

All devices offer push-pull or open-drain, active-low RESET outputs with fixed output reset thresholds of 92.5%/87.5% of the regulator's output OUT/OUT1. When OUT/OUT1 drops below the reset threshold, the reset output is set low, and OUT/OUT1 remains low for a reset timeout period that is fixed or capacitor-adjustable after OUT/OUT1 exceeds the reset threshold.

The MAX6791–MAX6796 feature a watchdog input that monitors the pulse train from the microprocessor (μP) and generates a reset pulse if the watchdog input remains high or low for longer than the watchdog timeout period. All devices provide a fixed watchdog timeout period of 280ms (min) or its period can be adjusted by an external capacitor. The MAX6791/MAX6792 feature an open-window watchdog timeout period with adjustable window ratio. The watchdog function can be disabled.

The MAX6791–MAX6796 provide dual enable inputs (ENABLE1 and ENABLE2) to control each regulator separately. The single-output MAX6795/MAX6796 provide an enable input.

All devices feature a hold input (active-low HOLD) to help implement self-holding circuitry without the need for external components. Once the regulator is enabled, setting active-low to active-low will remain on even if ENABLE/ENABLE1 is subsequently set low. Releasing active-low hold shuts down the regulator.sensor

The MAX6971–MAX6976 are available in a small, thermally enhanced TQFN package. The 5mm x 5mm package dissipates up to 2.7W of power, allowing the regulator to operate continuously at high ambient temperatures, battery voltages, and load currents.

The MAX6791–MAX6796 are specified for operation over the -40°C to +125°C temperature range.
