Maxim's ICL7129A/MAX7129 is a high-precision monolithic 4-1/2-digit A/D converter that directly drives a multiplexed liquid crystal display. Using a new "continuous integration" technology, 20,000 count resolutions are ± over the ICL7129A/MAX7129 2.00000V and 200.00mV ranges. It has a high impedance differential input, excellent differential linearity, true ratio operation, and automatic polarity. The only external active component that needs to be made with precise DVM/DPM is a reference. Over-range and under-output and 10:1 range change input convenient auto-regulating system design. ICL7129A/MAX7129 detects and flags the low voltage state of the battery, and also checks for continuity, giving a visual indication and logic level output that can be used to generate audio signals.

MAX7129 has 0.0005% full-scale accuracy, 10μV resolution, zero-read drift of 0.5μV/°C, input bias of 10pA maximum, and a flip error of less than 1 count. Maxim has reduced ICL7129A noise by 3μV significantly less than MAX7129.
