MAX9532's DirectDrive® Video Filter Amplifier is specifically designed to work in harsh environments, such as automobiles. MAX9532 provides integrated battery short-to-battery protection, enabling the device's output survival shorts up to 18V.

Maxim's DirectDrive technology eliminates a lot of output coupling capacitors and sets the output video black level close to the ground. The DirectDrive requires an integrated charge pump and internal linear regulator to create a clean negative power supply that allows the amplifier to pull the ground below in sync. With so little charge pump injection, it's clearly a flawless picture-to-video output noise.

MAX9532 has an internal reconstruction filter that smooths the steps and reduces the spike of the video signal from the video-to-analog converter (DAC). The reconstruction filter provides ±1dB passband flatness at 27MHz with 9.5MHz and 42dB attenuation.

MAX9532 inputs can be connected directly to the output of the video DAC. MAX9532 also features a transparent input sync head clamp, allowing for AC coupling of different DC bias input signals.

MAX9532 has a 4V/V internal fixed gain Nominally the input of the video signal is 0.5V PP at full scale and the full video signal output is nominally 2V PP.

The protection of short batteries utilizes the output of an internal switch series amplifier. When the MAX9532 detects that the output is shorted to the battery voltage, the internal switch is disabled to protect the MAX9532 from the slave voltage up to 18V.

MAX9532 is available in a 3mm x 3mm, 10-pin μMAX® package over an automotive-grade temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
