The MAX9532's DirectDrive® video filter amplifier is designed to operate in harsh environments such as automotive. The MAX9532 provides integrated short-to-battery protection, allowing the device's output survival shorts up to 18V.

Maxim's DirectDrive technology eliminates the need for a large number of output coupling capacitors and sets the output video black level close to ground. DirectDrive requires an integrated charge pump and internal linearityVoltage regulator, creating a clean negative supply so that the amplifier can pull ground synchronization underneath. The charge pump injects so little noise that it is obviously flawless to the picture-to-video output.

The MAX9532 features an internal reconstruction filter that smoothes the steps and reduces spikes in the video signal from the video digital-to-analog converter (DAC). The reconstruction filter provides ±1dB passband flatness at 27MHz with 9.5MHz and 42dB attenuation.

The input of the MAX9532 can be connected directly to the output of the video DAC. The MAX9532 also features a transparent input sync head clamp that allows AC coupling of different DC-biased input signals.

The MAX9532 features an internal fixed gain of 4V/V Nominally, the input full-scale range of the video signal is 0.5VPPand a comprehensive video signal output, nominally 2VPP。

The protection of the short battery utilizes the output of the internal switch series amplifier. When the MAX9532 detects an output short-circuit to the battery voltage, the internal switch is disabled, protecting the MAX9532 from voltages up to 18V.

The MAX9532 is available in a 3mm x 3mm, 10-pin μMAX® package over the -40°C to +125°C automotive temperature range.
