Quad video (filter) and input sync head clamping amplifier

description

The MAX9657 is a small, low-power, quad-video amplifier-input synchronous-head clamp. It has a bandwidth of 15MHz, making it not only a standard definition video signal, but also suitable for video graphics array (VGA) with 640×480 resolution up to 85Hz refresh rate signals.

The MAX9658 quad video amplifier is clamped with an integrated low-pass filter and input synchronization. Low-pass filters typically have ±1dB with 9.5MHz passband flatness and 47dB attenuation at 27MHz. Ideal for composite video signals, the MAX9658 is ideal for performing dealiasing input filtering in digital video recorders or performing output filtering reconstructed into a SCART set-top box.

Both devices require an AC-coupled input for the input video signal. The input sync head clamp sets the DC level of the internal video signal.

The amplifier has a 2V/V gain and the output can be dc coupled to a 75Ω load, which is equivalent to two video loads, or AC-coupled to a 150Ω load.

The MAX9657/MAX9658 also feature a low-power shutdown mode in which the supply current is reduced to 35μA.

The MAX9657/MAX9658 operate from a single 2.7V to 3.6V supply, are specified over the -40°C to +125°C automotive temperature range, and are available in a small, 16-pin QSOP package.
