Texas Instruments' MSP430 ultra-low-power microcontroller family includes multiple devices with peripheral sets for a variety of different applications. The architecture, with five low-power modes combined, is optimized to achieve extended battery life in portable measurement applications. The device features a powerful 16-bit RISC CPU, 16-bit registers, and contributes to maximum code efficiency generators. The digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) allows wake-up from low-power mode in active mode in less than 1 microsecond.

The MSP430F22xx family of ultra-low-power mixed-signal microcontrollers features two built-in 16-bit timers, a universal serial communication interface, 10-bit A/D with integrated reference and data transfer controller (DTC) converters, two general-purpose op-amps in the MSP430F22x4 device and 32 I/O pins.
