Texas Instruments' MSP430 ultra-low-power microcontroller family includes multiple devices with peripheral sets for a variety of different applications. The architecture, combined with 5 low-power modes, is optimized to implement portablemeasurement applications to extend battery life. The device has a powerful 16-bit RISC CPU, 16-bit registers, and contributes to maximum code efficiency constantly. A calibrated digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) allows wake-up from low-power mode to active mode in less than 1 microsecond.

The MSP430F261x/241x configuration of the series microcontrollers, two built-in 16-bit timers, a fast 12-bit A/D converter, comparator, dual 12-bit D/A converters, four Universal Serial Communication Interface (USCI) modules, DMA and up to 64 I/O pins.
