Texas Instruments' MSP430 ultra-low-power microcontroller family includes multiple devices with peripheral sets for a variety of different applications. The architecture, with five low-power modes combined, is optimized to achieve extended battery life in portable measurement applications. The device features a powerful 16-bit RISC CPU, 16-bit registers, and contributes to maximum code efficiency generators. The digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) allows wake-up from low-power mode in less than 6 microseconds in active mode.

The microcontrollers in this series are configured with the MSP430x41x with one or two built-in 16-bit timers, comparators, 96 LCD segment drive capability, and 48 I/O pins.
