Texas Instruments' MSP430 ultra-low-power microcontroller family includes multiple devices with peripheral sets for a variety of different applications. The architecture, combined with five low-power modes, is optimized to extend battery life in portable measurement applications. The device has a powerful 16-bit RISC CPU, 16-bit registers, and contributes to maximum code efficiency constantly. A digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) allows wake-up from a low-power mode in active mode in less than 6 microseconds.

The microcontrollers are configured with the MSP430x41x with one or two built-in 16-bit timers, comparators, 96 LCD segment drive capabilities, and 48 I/O pins.
