Texas Instruments' MSP430 ultra-low-power microcontroller family includes multiple devices with peripheral sets for a variety of different applications. The architecture, combined with five low-power modes, is optimized to extend battery life in portable measurement applications. The device has a powerful 16-bit RISC CPU, 16-bit registers, and attributes to maximize code efficiency constantly. A digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) allows wake-up from a low-power mode in less than 6μs active mode.

The MSP430F42x family is a microcontroller configuration of three independent 16-bit Σ-Δ A/D converters, each with an integrated programmable gain differential amplifier input stage.
