The Texas Instruments MSP430 ultra-low-power microcontroller family includes multiple devices with peripheral sets for a variety of different applications. The architecture, with 5 low-power modes combined, is optimized to enable portablemeasurement applications to extend battery life. These devices feature powerful 16-bit RISC CPUs, 16-bit registers, and constant generators that help maximize code efficiency. The CNC Oscillator (DCO) wakes up from low power mode, which can be used in active mode of less than 6μs.

The microcontrollers in this series are configured with the MSP430F471xx for single-phase and multi-phase meters with three, six, or seven 16-bit sigma-ΔA/D conversions.
