Texas Instruments' MSP430 ultra-low-power microcontroller family includes multiple devices with peripheral sets for a variety of different applications. The architecture, with five low-power modes combined, is optimized to achieve extended battery life in portable measurement applications. The device features a powerful 16-bit RISC CPU, 16-bit registers, and contributes to maximum code efficiency generators. The digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) allows wake-up from low-power mode in active mode in less than 6μs.

The MSP430F47xx series is targeted with three or four 16-bit Sigma-ΔA/D conversion to a single-phase energy meter microcontroller configuration.
