Texas Instruments' MSP430 ultra-low-power microcontroller family includes multiple devices with peripheral sets for a variety of different applications. The architecture, combined with five low-power modes, is optimized to extend battery life in portable measurement applications. The device has a powerful 16-bit RISC CPU, 16-bit registers, and contributes to maximum code efficiency constantly. The digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) allows wake-up from low-power mode in active mode in no more than 5 microseconds.

The MSP430F543x with the MSP430F541x series are three 16-bit timers, a high-performance microcontroller configured 12-bit analog-to-digital (A/D) converter, four Universal Serial Communication Interface (USCI), hardware multiplier, DMA, true real-time clock module with alarm functions, and up to 87 I/O pins.
