The REG710-5 features a 30mA switched capacitor DC-DC converter with a fixed 5V output

The REG710 is a switching capacitor voltage converterthat produces a regulated, low-ripple, output voltage from an unregulated input voltage. Batteries with a wide input supply voltage of 1.8V to 5.5V make a variety of REG710 ideal for a source such as a single lithium-ion cell or two and three nickel or alkaline chemicals.

The input voltage may vary The output voltage and output regulation above and below are still present. It is also suitable for step-up or buck applications without the need for an inductor, providing low EMI DC/DC conversion. The high switching frequency allows for the use of small surface mount capacitors, saving board space and reducing cost of use. The REG710 is thermal protection and current limiting, protecting the load and regulating under fault conditions.
