SCAN921821 is a dual-channel 18-bit serializer with signal conditioning, boundary sweep, and high-speed BIST. Each serial block is converted into a single bus LVDS data stream with an 18-bit parallel LVCMOS/LVTTL data bus with an embedded clock. This serial data stream of a single embedded clock simplifies PCB design and narrows the data path, resulting in reduced PCB size and layer printed circuit board costs. A single serial data stream also reduces cable size, number of connectors, and eliminates clock-to-data and data-to-data shifts.

Each channel also features an 8-level optional pre-emphasis function that significantly extends performance over lossy interconnects. Each channel also has its own power-saving pin, which saves power by reducing the supply current when the channel is not in use.
