SE98A thermal sensor

The SE98A thermal sensor operates in the V DD range of 1.7 V to 3.6 V, and the SE98A does not include customization of 2K SPD designs that require larger SPD DIMMs.

The Air Temperature Sensor (TS) includes an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) that monitors and updates its own temperature readings 8 times per second, converts it into a reading of digital data, and locks to a data temperature register. User-programmable registers such as shutdown or low-power modes and specification temperature events and critical output boundaries provide flexibility for DIMM temperature sensing applications.

When the temperature changes beyond the specified boundary limit, the SE98A outputs an alarm signal, using an open-drain output, which can be pulled between 0.9 V and 3.6 V with a user's choice of settings to output the signal with an active low or high active comparator output for thermostat operation, or a temperature event interrupt output for microprocessor-based systems. The event output can even be configured as a critical temperature output.

The SE98A supports industry-standard 2-wire I²C-bus/SMBus serial interfaces. Support for SMBus timeout function to prevent system locking. Manufacturer and device ID registers to confirm the device's ability to recognize. The three address pins allow up to 8 devices to be controlled on a single bus.

The SE98A is a thermal sensor comparable to the SE98 in the SE97, but with a voltage range of 1.7 V to 3.6 V.
