SG6859A - Low-cost green-mode PWM controller for flyback converters. This highly integrated PWM controller offers some special designs to meet the low-power SMPS enhancement requirements for low standby power consumption. To reduce standby power consumption, a proprietary green mode feature provides turn-off time modulation to linearly lower switching frequency under light load conditions. This green mode feature enables the power supply to meet even the strictest energy-saving requirements. The BiCMOS manufacturing process can reduce the starting current by 9 UA to 3mA operating current. To further improve power savings, a large starting resistance can be used. The built-in synchronous ramp compensation function ensures stable peak current mode control. Proprietary internal compensation provides a constant output power limited to a general AC input range (90VAC to 264VAC). The pulse current is limited to ensure safe operation, even during short circuits. The damaged power supply overvoltage protects the external power MOSFET, and the SG6859A output driver is clamped to 17V.
