These devices are half-duplex differential transceivers with optimized features for application in PROFIBUS (EN 50170 standard). The driver outputs a differential voltage that exceeds the PROFIBUS requirement of 54 2.1 V Load. The development of a signal rate of up to 40 Mbps technology enables high data transfer speeds. Low signal distortion is provided at lower bus capacitance.

This SN65HVD1176 and SN75HVD1176 data differential twisted pair network transmission between the data that meets or exceeds the requirements of ANSI standard TIA/EIA-485-A (RS-485). The driver output and receiver input are connected together to form a half-duplex bus port with one-fifth of the unit load, allowing for up to 160 nodes in one bus. The receiver output logic is high when it stays on a bus line short, open, or without any driver active.
