The SN65HVD233, SN65HVD234 and SN65HVD235 are used in the Employer Controller Area Network (CAN) application according to the physical layer of serial communication with the ISO 11898 standard. As a CAN transceiver, each provides the difference between the transmitting and receiving CAN bus and CAN controller functions with signal transmission rates of up to 1 Mbps.

Designed for operation in particularly harsh environments, the device features cross-wire, over-voltage and over-temperature protection, grounding protection ± 100 V transient protection device in common mode± 36 V loss, in a 7-V operation with a maximum range of 12-V common mode with 60 nodes on the bus.

If the common mode range is limited to -2 V to 7 volts according to the ISO-11898 standard, up to 120 nodes can be connected on the bus.
