In SN75LBC184 and SN65LBC184 is the industry standard for differential data in SN75176 footprint with built-in protection against high-energy noise transients in line transients. This feature provides a better immunity, plus greatly improved reliability against data line transient noise in most existing devices. Using these circuits provides a reliable, low-cost, direct-coupled (without isolation transformer) data line interface without the need for any external components.

Withstands 400 watts peak (typical) overvoltage transients at SN75LBC184 and SN65LBC184. The traditional combination in IEC 61000-4-5 waves is called simulated out-of-voltage transients and patterns caused by unidirectional surge overvoltages caused by transient switching and secondary lightning strikes.
