These devices have very low power consumption, and the single supply operation makes them ideal for space-constrained applications. Exar's patented (5306954) on-board charge pump circuit produces a fully compatible RS-232 voltage rating using a small and inexpensive charge pump capacitor of 0.1μF. External +12 V and -12 V power supplies are not required. The SP211E and SP213E feature a low-power shutdown mode that reduces power consumption to 1μA. The SP213E includes two receivers that are still active in shutdown monitoring signal activity. The SP207E, SP213E device pin-to-pin compatible competitors with our previous SP207, SP208, SP211 and SP213 as well as industry standard devices. ESD protection of the driver output and rereceiver input pins in excess of ±15kV is the IEC1000-4-2 air-gap discharge test method. Guaranteed to exceed 120kbps and 230kbps typical, making them compatible with high-speed modems and PC remote access applications. The receiver also incorporates cleaning of slow-moving signal reception lag.
