The SP3222E/3232E series features a high-efficiency, charge-pumped power supply that requires only 0.1μF capacitors to operate at 3.3V. This charge pump allows the SP3222E/3232E series to provide true RS-232 performance from a single supply range from +3.3 V to +5.0 The SP3222E/3232E is a 2-driver/2-receiver device. The series is ideal for applications such as laptops or handheld computers, portable or handheld. The ESD tolerance of the SP3222E/3232E device is ± higher than that of the human model and the test method for IEC1000-4-2 air discharge of 15kV. The SP3222E device has a driver output and charge pump prohibited for the device in low-power shutdown mode. On shutdown, the supply current drops to less than 1μA.
