The THS6226 is a dual-port, Class H, current feedback architecture, differential line driver amplifier system ideal for xDSL systems. The device is intended for use in VDSL2 (Ultra High Bitrate Digital Subscriber Line 2) line driver systems that enable local DTM signals while supporting line power above +20.5dBm (up to 8.5MHz) and optimal linearity to support G.993.2 VDSL2 8b transmission modes. It also boasts a high speed sufficient to support central office transmission at +14.5dBm line power (up to 30MHz).

The THS6226's unique architecture provides extremely low quiescent current while still achieving ultra-high linearity. Differential distortion is -91dBc at full bias and at 1MHz, dropping to only -75dBc at 5MHz. For line lengths that do not require the full performance of the amplifier, the amplifier's multiple fixed bias settings enhance power savings. To provide greater flexibility and power savings in all transmission modes, the quiescent current is digitally regulated from 7.67mA to 23mA with a 1.0mA bias current step. For systems that want more power savings when no transmission is taking place, the THS6226 can be used in its line termination mode to maintain impedance matching.

The wide output swing from a +12V supply combined with excellent current drive capability provides wide headroom to suppress distortion at very low levels.

The THS6226 is available in the QFN-32 PowerPAD package.
