The first member of TI's new family of general-purpose op-amps for bipolar metal oxide semiconductors is the TLC07x. The concept in the bipolar metal-oxide-semiconductor household is simple: to provide a BiFET user who is moving away from dual-power, single-supply systems and requires higher AC and DC performance upgrade paths. With performance scores from 4.5 V to 16 V, bipolar metal oxide semiconductors are suitable for audio, automotive, industrial, and instrumentation applications when used in commercial (0°C to 70°C) and extended industrial temperature ranges (-40°C to 125°C). Familiar features like zero bias pins enable higher performance across various applications.

Developed in TI's patented LBC3 BiCMOS process, the new bipolar metal oxide semiconductor amplifier combines a very high input impedance low-noise CMOS front end with a high drive bipolar output stage, thus enabling these two best performance characteristics. The AC performance improvements of the TL07x's BiFET predecessor include a 10 MHz bandwidth (a 300% increase) and a 7-voltage noise level in Nevada/ Hertz (60% improvement in Phase I). DC improvements include reducing the input offset voltage to a standard level of 1.5 millivolts (maximum) among four factors, and improving power supply suppression above 40 dB to 130 dB. Adding to this impressive list of features is the ability to package PowerPAD™ from an ultra-compact footprint using MSOP, positioning it as an ideal high-performance general-purpose operational amplifier series TLC07x ± comfortable for 50 mA workloads.
