The TPS40042 DC/DC controller is designed with a 3.0 V and 5.5 V between operation and operation, reducing the number of external components and the number of operating parameters is a fixed internal input source. For example, at the operating frequency, the internal setting is 600 kHz.

Three short-circuit threshold levels, one of which can be optionally joined by the COMP pin to be grounded from an external resistor circuit (no resistance is the default setting). On the power supply, when the output voltage rises from the previous internal soft-start command, TPS40042 enters the calibration cycle, which measures the COMP pin current output and selects a threshold voltage for an internal SCP. At the end of the 1.5 ms calibration time, the output voltage is allowed to enter the soft start.
