TPS40180 is a stackable, single-phase synchronous buck controller. Modular power supply designs that allow stacking where multiple modules can achieve the desired output power in parallel if the output power requirements cannot be provided by a single module. Stacked modules can be configured to switch at different times while establishing a multi-phase supply frequency operation on the same basis. Up to 8 phases can be configured, and multiple modules can be set on the in-phase switch if required. Reduced input and output ripple currents occur when the module is stacked. Stacked modules can be used to generate to a single rail or a combination of both separate output rails, load sharing phase information to reduce input ripple currents in the system.
