The TPS40197 is a synchronous step-down controller that operates from 4.5 V to 14 V input supply nominals. The controller implements a voltage-mode control architecture with a fixed switching frequency of 520 kHz. The higher switching frequency promotes smaller inductors and output capacitors, providing a compact power solution. An adaptive anti-cross conduction scheme is used to prevent shooting through current in the power FET.

The TPS40197 integrates PWM control on a single chip and 4-bit VID interface, allowing for seamless real-time conversion rate, programmable VID changes. It provides a simple power solution for an intelligent reflective ™DSP core.

Short circuit detection is to detect the voltage drop of the entire low-end FET, and the threshold for users to choose it is 100 mV, 200 mV or 280 mV.
