The TPS40200 is a flexible non-synchronous controller with a built-in 200 mA P-channel FET driver. The circuit operates with up to 52 volts, has a power-down function, turns off the drive current, and once the external FET is fully started. This feature extends the flexibility of the device, allowing it to operate input voltages up to 52 V without dissipating excessive power. The circuit has voltage-mode feedback and has feed-forward input voltage compensation in response to immediate changes in input voltage. The integral 700 mV reference is trimmed to 2%, providing the means to precisely control low voltages. The TPS40200 is available in an 8-pin SOIC package and supports many of the functions of more complex controllers.
