The TPS40222 is optimized for fixed-frequency, current-mode, nonsynchronous buck converters powered by a 5 V distributed supply. With an internally determined operating frequency, soft-start time, and control loop compensation, the TPS40222 offers many features with a minimal number of external components.

The TPS40222 operates at 1.25 MHz and supports output loads up to 1.6 A. With the output voltage set down to 0.8 V, the TPS40222 can use pulse current limiting and frequency foldback to protect the transition in a catastrophic short-circuit output state.
