The TPS51116 provides a complete power supply for DDR/SSTL-2, DDR2/SSTL-18 and DDR3 memory systems. It integrates a No.3 chip synchronous buck controller/source trace linear regulator and buffered low noise reference. The TPS51116 provides a total solution with the lowest system cost where space is at a premium. The TPS51116 synchronous controller runs an adaptive fixed-on-time control that can be configured in D-CAP mode for ease of use and fastest transient response or current mode, supporting 400kHz quasi-fixed frequency PWM for ceramic output capacitors. 3. The receiver/source maintains a fast transient response LDO that requires only 20μF (2 × 10μF) of ceramic output capacitance. In addition, the power input of the LDO greatly reduces the total external power loss.
