TPS5120-EP Enhanced dual output 2-phase synchronous step-down DC/DC controller

The TPS5120 type is a dual, high efficiency synchronous buck controller running the output phase of 180, thereby reducing input current ripple and thus the cost of input capacitors. The PWM/skip pin allows the business mode to switch from PWM mode to skip mode under light load conditions. Skip mode can be shortened to low-side MOSFETs with lower operating frequencies and pulse widths, improving efficiency at light loads. These two modes, along with synchronous rectified drivers, dead time, and very low quiescent current, allow power to protect and extend battery life that is extended under all load conditions. The driver chip on the high-side and low-side MOSFET drivers of 1.5 (typical) designs are cheaper N-channel MOSFETs.
