The TPS5130 consists of three independent synchronous buck regulator controllers (SBRCs) and one low dropout (LDO) regulator controller. On-chip high-side and low-side synchronous rectification drivers are integrated into the driver's cheaper N-channel MOSFETs. The LDO controller can also drive an external N-channel MOSFET. Because input current ripple is minimized and operates 180° out of phase, it allows for smaller input capacitance, reducing power supply costs. The TPS5130 SBRC automatically adjusts from PWM mode to SKIP mode to maintain high efficiency at light loads. Resistorless' synchronous buck controller and fixed high-side drive voltage and current protection simplify system design and reduce external component count.
