The TPS51427 is a dual-channel synchronous buck controller designed for use in laptop and mobile communication applications. This device is a laptop power bus regulator low-cost kit that makes the number of external components low as part of the system design. The TPS51427 includes two pulse width modulation (PWM) controllers, SMPS1 and SMPS2. The SMPS1 output can be adjusted from 0.7 V to 5.9 V, while the output SMPS2 can be adjusted from 0.5 V to 2.5 V, and the device also has a low dropout (LDO) regulator that provides a 5-V/3.3-V output or an output adjustable from 0.7 to 4.5-V via LDOREFIN. Fixed-frequency analog adaptive on-time control reduces operating frequency under high load conditions to support seamless operation between PWM modes in the low-efficiency drop-down to light-load milliampere range.
