A family member of the DC/DC regulated SWIFT, the TPS5420 is a high output current PWM converter that integrates a low impedance high side N-channel MOSFET. Included with the features listed with the substrate is a high-performance voltage error amplifier that achieves transient voltage regulation accuracy under tight conditions, an undervoltage lockout circuit to prevent start-up until the input voltage reaches 5.5 volts, an internal slow-start circuit to limit inrush current, and a voltage feed-forward circuit to improve transient response. Using the ENA pin, the shutdown supply current drops to 18μA typically. Other features include an active high start, overcurrent limit, overvoltage protection, and thermal shutdown.
