The TPS54622 in a thermally enhanced 3.5 mm x 3.5 mm QFN package is a full-featured 17 V, 6 A synchronous buck converter that supports high efficiency and integrates high/low side MOSFETs optimized for small designs. Further space savings can be achieved by reducing the number of components through current mode control and reducing the inductor booth area by selecting a high switching frequency.

The output voltage start ramp is controlled by the SS/TR pin and operates in both independent power supply and tracking mode. In addition, the correct configuration of the enabled and open-drain power good pins enables power sequencing.

The cycle-by-cycle current limit of the high-side FET protects the device in the event of an overload and can be enhanced by a low-side supply current limit that prevents current runaway. In addition, a low-side absorption current limit is available that shuts off the low-side MOSFET to prevent excessive reverse current. If the overcurrent condition lasts longer than a preset time, the toggle protection function is triggered. Thermal shutdown protection disables the device when the die temperature rises to the thermal shutdown temperature, and the component can be re-enabled after the built-in thermal shutdown shutdown time.
