The TPS6014x boost, regulated charge pump produces an output voltage from 5 V ± 4% of 1.8 volts to a 3.6 V input voltage range. These devices are typically made up of two alkaline batteries, nickel-cadmium, nickel-metal hydride batteries or provide a current of at least 100 mA from 2-V input and output. Only 4 external capacitors are required to build a complete triple frequency voltage charge pump.

The device utilizes an output that regulates pulses to skip the topology. The controller is optimized to output a full range of lowest output voltage ripple currents. The output peak current, therefore, the output voltage ripple is greatly reduced compared to the traditional pulse skip the topology that regulates the output impedance of the charge pump. The maximum output resistance at light loads is limited to ensure low quiescent current.
