The TPS6020x boost, regulated charge pump generates an input voltage of 3.6 V from 1.8 V to 3.3 V to ± 4% of the output voltage. These devices are typically powered by two alkaline batteries, NiCd or NiMH batteries and operate a minimum supply voltage of 100 mA for the TPS60200 and TPS60201 with a continuous output current of 100 mA, and for the TPS60202 and TPS60203, all 50 mA from a minimum input of 2-V. Only four external capacitors are required to build a complete low ripple DC/DC converter. The push-pull two-ended charge pump mode of operation ensures that low output voltage ripple is continuously transferred to the output as flow is carried out.

These devices operate in the newly developed LinSkip mode. In this mode of operation, the device switches seamlessly from the savings pulse-skipping mode at light loads, low-noise constant frequency, and linearly regulated mode once the output current exceeds the LinSkip threshold power of 7 mA.
