The TPS6101x device is a probo-boost converter for systems typically powered by single or two-cell nickel-cadmium (NiCd), nickel-metal hydride (NiMH), or alkaline batteries.

The converter output voltage can be adjusted to 1.5 V to 3.3 V maximum, maximized by an external resistor divider, or fixed inside the chip. These devices provide an output current of only 0.9 V for a supply voltage of only 0.9 V and keep operating at full load of 0.8 with 0.9 and a supply voltage converter starting at 200 mA of output current of five

The converter is based on a fixed-frequency, current-mode, pulse-width modulation (PWM) controller that automatically saves the power supply in light load mode. It uses a built-in synchronous rectifier, so the need for an external Schottky diode is necessary and the efficiency of the system is improved.
