The TPS6102x booster device provides a power solution for products powered by a single-cell, two-cell, or three-cell alkaline, nickel-cadmium or nickel-metal hydride battery, or a single-cell lithium-ion or lithium-polymer battery. The output current can be up to 200 mA, while using a single alkaline battery and releasing it to 0.9 V, it can also be used at 500 mA to produce 5 V from 3.3-V trains or a lithium-ion battery. The boost converter is based on a fixed frequency, pulse width modulation (PWM) controller that uses a synchronous rectifier for maximum benefit. Enter power-saving mode at the low-load current converter to maintain high efficiency over a wide load current range. Power saving mode can be disabled, forcing the converter to fix the switching frequency.
