The TPS6120x device provides a power solution for products powered by a single-cell, two-cell, or three-cell alkaline, nickel-cadmium or nickel-metal hydride battery, or a single-cell lithium-ion or lithium-polymer battery. It can also be used in fuel cells or solar cells, where the ability to handle low input voltages is essential. The possible output current depends on the output voltage ratio to the input. These devices provide an output current of 600 mA at 5-V while using a single-cell Li-Ion or Li-Polymer battery and releasing it to a 2.5 V boost converter based on a fixed frequency, pulse pulse width modulation (PWM) controller using synchronous rectification technology for maximum benefit. At low load currents, the converter enters power-down mode to maintain high efficiency over a wide load current range.
