Miniature low-input voltage boost converter

The TPS6122x family of devices provides a power solution for products powered by a single-cell, two-cell, or three-cell alkaline, nickel-cadmium or nickel-metal hydride battery, or a single-cell lithium-ion or lithium-polymer battery. The possible output current depends on the ratio of the input to output voltage. The boost converter is based on a hysteresis controller that employs synchronous rectification to obtain the lowest quiescent current efficiency and highest efficiency. The output voltage of the adjustable version can be programmed externally through a resistor divider or a fixed output voltage can be set internally. The converter can be turned off by a featured enable pin. and being turned off, battery consumption is minimized. The device measures 2 mm × 2 mm in a 6-pin SC-70 package (DCK) for small circuit layout sizes.
