The TPS6124x device is an efficient DC-DC converter optimized for synchronous steps powered by a three-cell alkaline, NiCd or NiMH battery, or a single Li-Ion or Li-Polymer battery. The TPS6124x supports output currents up to 450 mA. The TPS61240 has a valley with an input current limit of 500mA, while the TPS61241 has a valley with an input current of 600mA.

With 2.3V to 5.5V input voltage range devices supporting and extended voltage range batteries, it is ideal for portable applications such as mobile phones and other portable devices as power supplies. The TPS6124x boost converter is based on a quasi-constant on-time valley current mode control scheme.
