The TPS61251 device provides a power solution for products powered by a three-cell, nickel-cadmium or nickel-metal hydride battery or a single lithium-ion or lithium-polymer battery. A wide input voltage range is ideal for portable applications such as mobile phones, solid-state drives (SSDs), and wireless modem power supplies. The converter is designed to be responsible for Farad-large capacitors and supports battery backup applications. The TPS61251 of operating at the capacitor charge source is as a constant current until the V output reaches its programmed value. The charge current passes through an external resistor ILIM and provides an average input current ± 10% current limiting accuracy.

In combination with reservoir capacitors TPS61251 converters provide high current pules that will exceed the suppling circuit function (PC slot, USB) and keep the power supply safe in the slot within its capabilities.
