TPS61251 3.5MHz, 1.5A Current-Limited, 92% High Efficiency Boost Converter for Battery Backup Charging

The TPS61251 device provides a power solution for products powered by a three-cell, nickel-cadmium or nickel-metal hydride battery or a single-cell lithium-ion or lithium-polymer battery. The wide input voltage range is ideal for portable applications such as mobile phones, solid-state drives (SSDs) and wireless modem power supplies. The converter is designed to be responsible for Farad large capacitance and supports battery backup applications. The TPS61251 operating in the capacitor charging source is as a constant current up to VoutputReach its programmed value. The charging current can be passed through an external resistor RILIM,It also provides an average input current ± 10% current limit accuracy.

In combination with reservoir capacitors TPS61251 converters can provide high current pules that will exceed the capabilities of suppling circuits (PC slots, USB) and keep the slots within their ability to be power safe.
