The TPS6302x device provides a power solution powered by a two- or three-cell alkaline, NiCd or NiMH battery, or a single-cell Li-Ion or Li-Polymer battery. The output current can be as high as 3A bars using a single cell Li-Ion or Li-Polymer battery and discharged to 2.5V or less. The buck-boost converter is based on a fixed frequency, and the pulse-width modulation (PWM) controller uses synchronous rectification for maximum benefit. At low load currents, the converter enters power-down mode to maintain high efficiency over a wide range of load currents. The power-down mode can be disabled, forcing the converter to switch at a fixed frequency. The maximum average current limit in the switch is typical for 4A.
