The out-of-sync TPS6420x buck is ideal for systems or applications powered from a 5 V or 3.3 V bus, or from a 1 cell from a 2-Li-ion battery – to 4 NiCd, NiMH, or alkaline batteries. These buck controllers drive an external P-channel MOSFET for design flexibility. To achieve the highest efficiency over a wide load current range, the controller uses a shortest-time, minimum-off-time control scheme that consumes only 20μA of quiescent current. Regarding a typical 600 nanosecond (TPS64203), the minimum time allows the use of small inductors and capacitors. When disabled, current consumption is reduced to less than 1μA. The TPS6420x is available in a 6-pin SOT23 flat (dBV) package and operates to 85°C over a free-air -40°C temperature range
