Description/Ordering Information

The TRS3222E consists of two line drivers, a two-wire receiver, and a dual charge pump with ± 15-kV ESD protection PIN-to-PIN (serial port connection pin, including ground) circuitry.

The device meets the requirements of TIA/EIA-232-F and provides an electrical interface between the asynchronous communication controller and the serial port connector. A charge pump and four small external capacitors allow operation from a single 3 V supply to 5.5 V. The device operates at typical data signal transfer rates up to 500 kbit/s and a 30-V/μs driver output slew rate is maximum.

The TRS3222E can be placed in power-down mode by setting power-down(PWRDOWN)The input is low, consuming only 1 microamp from the power supply. When the device is powered off, the receiver remains active while the driver is in a high-impedance state. In addition, the built-in charge pump is disabled in the event of a power failure; Lower for V+arriveV CC and V - is the GND raised. The receiver output can also be placed in a high impedance state and enabled by setting(EN)High.
